Know Yourself Poem by C.F. van Niekerk

Know Yourself

Rating: 2.8

Know yourself

I was born as a son.
I lived as a boy.
I grew as a male.
And fought as the tough.
I stood as the strong.
I thought as a poet.
I listened as a professional.
I played as an addict
I slept as the pleased.
I ate as in a feast.
I worked as an expert.
I learned as a child.
I married as a friend.
I loved as a lover.
I changed as a father.
I woke up to be a leader.
I am committed to the dream.
I am a man.
Life is good,
Because He makes it good…
Stop!
Look in your heart…
The pounding so strong,
Without Him my sight is blind.
Now,
What about You?

Personally, I liked it. I think each of us have certain things we 'are' and we 'do'. Maybe if more of us actually thought about how we do things and why we do what we do the world would be a better place. Nice poem. Sincerely, Mary
