Knowing Me Poem by Oge Nwankwo

Knowing Me

To know me is to love me
So why do you act like you don't?
Know me, only then will you love me
Love me, only then will you know me
To know me is to love me
But maybe thats the problem
Maybe you don't really know me
Maybe I shut the door to my heart

Whats there to love when you don't know a person?
When you know nothing of their greatest pain
When you know nothing of their sweetest joy
When you've never shared a deepest secret
When you've never just stayed in bed and talked
When you've never longed to hear their voice
When you've never ached to feel their touch

To know me is to love me
Baby I must not be making any sense
You may not comprend so just before you dart
Let me help you untangle the web that is my heart

You see knowing a person is the greatest gift of all to me. I think everybody is hard to figure out so once you figure someone out, understand that you now share a special bond with them. Understand that you now hold the power to light up their world or tear it right down. Because when you know a person, even if they make you angry, or sad or even happy, there is a certain satisfaction that comes from the fact that, 'O thats just how johnny is...'I talk about knowing someone and how important that is because that is the key to my heart. Someone who knows and accepts me for who I have been created to be, yet they are not afraid to help me smooth out the kinks.

So when I speak about love I speak about knowledge.
I speak about endless conversations
I speak about random spurts of pointless things
I speak about recognition and understanding
I speak about patience and sacrifices
I speak about the precious melding of two voices
I speak about knowing the person you crowned as your choice

To know me is to love me
To love my every flaw
A hard job it may claim to be
But so is finding gem
