Lake Of Pelicans- Pelican Show Poem by Borhan Uddin Ahmad

Lake Of Pelicans- Pelican Show

Far away from Sydney,
Past enchanting hills and forests,
Lies that dream lake
On the Central Coast
where The Pacific incessantly
Whispers in its ears.
Hills and forests encircle it
With great affection.
Float on the dream lake
Hundreds of pelicans
Beautiful like dream, fearless.
The Entrance- - what a strange name of that city!
Pelicans rest on islands of the lake.
What a tranquility in that sanctuary of pelicans!
City Mayor's affection showers down every afternoon
From the hands of the old lady and middle aged gentleman.
On the shore of the lake those loving hands
Toss up at ease fish as feed
Among the crowd before their interested eyes.
Among them in that joyous gathering
We friends and dear ones were there.
Pelicans in their huge bills catch fish
On the air at ease like magicians.
At the end of the day the crowd returns
Home through hills and forest.
There lies only the dream lake in solitude
With The Pacific close by.
Lie all dream pelicans
And fall on their wings
All peace and tranquility of the world.
