Land Of Jesse - Poem by Abiodun Adekoya

Dear land of Jesse
Upon the city of sage and enterprises
Where river 'Y' tapped her glory
There I heard the wailing of your children
Tremble like the echoes of lion and owl

They screamed: painful, tearful and pathetic
Calamity makes your history hoodoo and mournful
Land of culture and provisions
Are seen consuming by the anger of a laughing fire

Oh no! your children
Dead and entombed together with the wrath
Shelters and qualities of your ancient values
Were highly excited in mist of combustion
My heart speak grief to the aliens
That stepped into your soil uninvited
And replenishing your sinus with misery

O land of Jesse!
I am sorry for the wrong I do not committed
But those who produced your afflictions
We not live to see you flourishing again
