Last December Day Poem by Phil Soar

Last December Day

On the last blue skied December day
As we see the year off on it's way
Is it time to remember what came our way?
As we say goodbye to another day

As I sit on the porch, as the weather's mild
Holding in my arms our first grandchild
I am loathe to let go of the year we've had
Where the days flew by, for this first grandad

So I wonder what next year will hold
Can it be as good as the days unfold
Will the months bring scenes that see it through
When love beats all, and the smiles acrew

On this last blue sky December day
As we see the year off on it's way
I'll blow it a kiss, as midnight strikes
And remember all the days I've liked

No Facebook, no twitter, or instagram hits
As all of those things just get on my tits
Just an end to the year as it passes away
I'll share it with those that I love every day
