You wore a coat I had seldom seen, maybe twice,
But now it's like a white certainty in my mind.
We stood by that sleek and silver tram and suddenly,
On that night, it had all the frightening potential of a bullet,
That night it would hurt me real bad.
I felt your hair with my cheek and moved my lips
To cling to yours, felt them with all my body before
Moving away.
On the walk home I thought of you on that tram,
Always moving away; I knew that's how it would be,
Always moving away, but I make up tales
Because otherwise it's too unbearable;
Nobody should be asked to suffer for too long in
That truth like cold steel, hard and no comfort.
It would only break this fragile thing.
So I think of you always with a smile on your face.
A truly beautiful way to express a final parting and leaving. Some good lines and the magic of tales of alternatives to help survive the pain.10+

the truth is the only real solid substance in human emotion and mind can divert very far away from the truth. separation with hopes to meet again sometimes will drive a man into deeper and deeper love with unrealistic expectation but IN LOVE EVERYTHING IS ACCEPTABLE AND REAL. nice twist of painful goodbye.
