Last Promise Poem by Jyotishman Debnath

Last Promise

like the sky touch the earth
I touch you
a relation of thousand years
deep yet secret
like the flower and aroma
the secrecy

from the root to the branches
the flame
from this bank to the other
the smoke

in a invisible ladder
some earthly faces walk up and down
silently
yet sometimes
words-pain- words

I have exchanged the roses
yours and mine
making the two river flow together
and just one horizon

by one hand I touch the sky
by another I dig down
counting tide in the breath
and look at the mirror in darkness

I keep the spring in my eyes
and put aside the yellow leaves
with my spring I make you green
fertile

I put on my nakedness
and remember the first promise

I walk in the rain
and get drenched by moonbeam

I hurt the time
and commit a mistake at the beginning

you sail on
I say good bye
you look back
I too

in a lonely silence
the live greens
write down the last note
and i search the meaning
and hear the last whistling train

in between
blood-flower-moonbeam
in between
words-pain- words

some day time will just pass by
like you
my beloved time
no regrets
though I will be left alone
and then
from the womb of memory
to the shed of dreams
i will be seeing your face in my eyes!
