Last Seconds Of Time Poem by John Neurer

Last Seconds Of Time

Rating: 5.0

The fleeting seconds of time slowing, detracting my thoughts towards what will be
A gentle yet intangible breeze of my impending promise of death, brushing aside
Those waves of uncertainty that whisper across my minds eye
Feathering amidst the winds of expectation, I sense a glimmer of doubt
One of random and intrepid nature, which seizes me, rendering me powerless
Deliriously grim, I ponder of what is most precious, all I hold dear
My steadfast yet pointless exertion of dutiful energies draining
In assertive and frivolous pursuance of meager power and greed
Flows tragically, dramatically past my superficial and surly temperament
A grand eloquent moment seemingly caught in this universe of time
Extracting my very being from the present, pushing me into a realm
Where I vividly glimpse what is to be from what can be no more
