Latent Aspiration Poem by Nik Houghton

Latent Aspiration

Awaken in the dark
Morose and impetuous
A weakling crawling
As peculiar as it seems
Abandoned to decay

Reality sinks in
She defies the yearning
An imperfect being
For a soul to appreciate

Ambitious to excel
Yet petrified and confused
Hollow rumors infuse her
Must she be a sullen promoter
Or believe her destiny?

Enlightened to reveal
Not a single demon
Could prevent her
From being the enigmatic manifestation
She ought to be
