Leave the smell

Of nowhere
-came along
-stood there
-all alone
-and looked at
-what went on

Food was warm
-on plate
-with forks, knives
-is eaten

Men chew and
-in silence, quiet
-a cockroach
-recites and whispers the:

"Eat, enjoy and be well;
-but, for me,
-leave something,
-even if the smell;
-just smell! "

I recall an old song
-with lyrics:
- "Take the land and the wheat
-but for me
-leave smell
-just smell! "

Now
-cockroach killed and gone
-I feel the older song
-when poor sang
-complained
-of the shah's
-regime.
-Both of them
-refugees, scattered …

What a life for wise, weak!
