Leave The Village Poem by John Chizoba Vincent

Leave The Village

'Won't you run away from the village? '
'Why should I run away from my home.? '
'The Oracle and the tradition demand you do so.'
'Why! ? '
'Because you had twins.'
'So I should run away because I had twins? '

'Have you lost your mind woman? Twins is forbidden here.'
'No, I won't leave the village because I had twins.'
'Then the people shall kill you and give your babies to the river goddess.'
'Let them come, I won't leave this village! '
'Leave the Village now! You have caused an abomination.'
'I won't! I won't! ! My babies are not an abomination, they are the future of this land.'

'Ok, here they come, wonder who will save you all'
'I will fight for my children and my freedom.'
