Leavetaking Poem by renato mascardo

Leavetaking

let me not mar your leaving
with my commendable intent
let me not inflict on you pain
with an unwanted embrace
touch has a memory as you
and i know and now regret

let me lip you my goodbye from afar
let the space between us remain
sensibility robs the senses of
their keenness the farther we stand apart
let me not miss you when you are gone
my missing you will render you more hurt
