Leftovers Of Love Poem by Christie Maker

Leftovers Of Love

Sitting in the middle of nowhere,
thoughts whirling round in my brain
Thinking about my ex,
Feel like I'm silently going insane

He stole all my worldly belongings,
and laid claim to my heart as well
Then as the dramatic finally of it,
told me I could go to hell.

The one thing that he left me with,
was a burden too weighty to bear
A piece of me & him combined,
something we were sposed to share

Something we both created,
but didn’t ever plan
Something that we never wanted,
the reason he packed up & ran

I’m thinking of getting rid of it,
but somehow I know what is to be done
I can’t bring myself to destroy a creation,
that will one day say, “I love you……Mum.”
