Leisure Poem by Namita Rani Panda

Leisure

I intensely loved to have leisure
To have ample time for unlimited fun and pleasure
To pursue hobbies like sewing, embroidering,
Watching TV, painting
Or sitting silently watching the wonders of Nature.

" No leisure, no life
Only duties and duties in the office
And at home heaps of daily chores"
Was my constant complaint and growling grief.

But now no office, no work
Only leisure,
Limitless leisure,
But it sits on my head as a massive bulldozer,
No crowd, no traffic
Leisure with such a strange huge silence
Is a terrifying giant
That blows out from its nose and mouth fire of fear
With suffocating fumes of doubt and anxiety
Combined with appreciation and uncertainty.
Leisure is now a nightmare
With a sense of insecurity
Sans creativity,
Leisure is now a double edged sword
That not only murders the zeal to enjoy the glorious Nature,
But also slits the wings of dream for a safe and secured future.
Leisure is now eerie and painful
As time is lying inactive like a python after consuming it's victim.
The only way to utilise this unbearable leisure
Is to pray the Almighty and wait with patience
For the revival of lost spice of life again.
