Lemonade Poem by Holly Jamestone

Lemonade

If I were a cloud, I'd float on only sunny days
Bathing myself in skies awash with azure
Hugging dusk's sizzling tangerine horizon
Following the rainbows and windswept tides

I'd be white as a marshmallow, silent as stocking feet
Drifting far from grey, disgruntled clouds
While always following my sun
Shading her from the earth

If I were a tree, I'd rest on a calm hillside
In a lush, warm place
Where the dawn would greet me
My leaves would never weep or abandon me

I'd be green as the seaweed graves
Standing majestic and proud
Seldom parched and never longing
A haven of solace for all squirrels

If I were a bird, I'd soar freely
Oblivious to all above or below me
My angelic wings silently graceful and cascading
As if life would wait for me and I for life

If I were simply myself
I would unwaveringly do what I do best: thrive
I would open my heart the way one gently releases their fist
To all the wonderment and magic of the world

Drinking gratefully from the stream of life
Weathering each storm with my resilient umbrella of hope
I'd calmly welcome the next weather front
Aligning and sweeping across the sand together

While patiently waiting for the sun to set
And life to be golden again
I'd live each day as though my last
Always remembering to make
LEMONADE
