Lemonade
I have seen many roads!
-North to South and across
-up and down, dust, asphalt.
I have seen many roads!
-from paths in deserts to alleys
-and dead-ends to highways
-with single, many lanes.
I flew the airways
-around world and over
-landscapes and oceans…
Therefore, have eyes open
-to past and present!
-to terrains, farms and caves.
"What goes up must come down, "
-is an old proverb; Persian says:
- "Fountains rise to collapse! "
Saw mirror in North York
-when crossing the roads
-Underhill, Cassandra.
My childhood was framed
-by many children;
-the small school girls
-had table and pitchers
-in them iced-lemonade
-orange juice and coolers…
I saw me in sidewalk and shouting:
- "Fight flies with Cat's mask! "
This was my second time
- (had seen them at start)
-no more shy and afraid;
-now, settled and experts.
-Brought the small cups
-to the cars that stopped.
Parentally we asked them:
- "My dear, get me one…"
Generous we were, all
-not for what we had bought
-but to teach little ones:
- "Earning comes with working! "
Joyfully we reached out
-and paid them in toonies;
-even with notes, large bills.
Their smiles cheered us! ! !
Hey lady in Mehran
-Laleh Zar of Tehran
-who paid me Two-Tomans
- (times above the Riyal)
-you too, must have felt
-my heartbeat, over-joyed…
It must be pleasure
-to help and enable
-someone else to smile
-and paving the road to
-some descent, nicer life.
But what if sword and gun
-kill and hurt one's pride
-or parents, children,
-or clan, cult, culture?
I read of Romanovs
- (how were killed and survived!)
-With this on screen, run rivers, history
-with floods and cascades (motions, falls.)
In shadow observe Jews
-from the oldest time to today
- (compiled-lies, murders caused, sufferings)
-and Yemen, Syria… Palestine, year around!
-True is: "What goes up must come down."
