Let It Be Poem by Shaa Shaa

Let It Be

Never in a hundred years, I said.
I said it would never be like this,
how could I possibly consider it,
consider that you and me might be,
might be something, an entity,
my feelings deceive me, but I let them be.

I'm excited about you,
excited by your words,
I'm swept off my feet,
like a princess in a fairy tale,
could you be, my knight in shining armor,
such silly thoughts, but I let them be.

We talk about everything and nothing all at once,
converse in code and metaphors known to none but us,
discuss us and them but never settling on how,
on how to approach the elephant in the room,
we know we're wrong, our feelings shouldn't grow but we choose to let them be.
