Let Them Say Poem by Adams King

Let Them Say

I know men for one undying habit
I know them for one they can't desist
They will speak ill whether bad or good
With confident face whether lies or truth

I heard they said I kept water in a basket
That I gave my love to a pleasure market
I heard them say all I'm doing are in vain
For I will drown in a pool of great pain

I heard they said you deserve no love
Girls like you only smile to a rising sun
And leave when the setting sun is above
To seek another fool to make more fun

I concealed my ears to all their worlds
And place more defence on my walls
Let no man'slips mislead my own path
For I have made you queen of my heart

Let them say you are everyman's pit
That you are a street pleasure hawker
Let them say your feelings are counterfeit
That you are no better than a midnight sucker

Let them say you are a vessel of no virtue
That the love your express are never true
Let them say you are the daughter of Jezebel
That devils like you deserve worst than hell

Let them say you have no faithful bones
Neither can you be loyal to one master
Let them say you are a queen of no throne
That you are as deadly as vengeful viper

Let them paint you ugly for who you'renot
cast stones on you like the adulterous harlot
Let them write your name on a worthless page
But this feelings of mine will never change

I shall stand with a solid and firm foot
And let no words undo my love for you
I shall break loose from the serpent tooth
And believe no words they say about you
