Let Us All Stop For A Moment Poem by Meraj Ahmed

Let us all stop for a moment, stand still
And turn our beliefs upside down,
Let us for a moment make ourselves
The villains of our own stories,
And not blame those around us,
Not look for revenge, nor try to forgive.
Let us at that moment, see our enemies
As the victims of our insensitive grudge,
The grudge for the mistakes they never did,
For the sins, they never committed.
And when that moment finally ends,
And we are ready to be the villains
of our own stories,
Let us start walking towards those we had a grudge against,
and when we finally reach, let us greet them "hello" and say sorry,
you will see my friend! when you say sorry and mean it,
you will find different reactions from different people,
mainly four.
The first one: He will instantly say you sorry back and hug you tight and will say " no mate, it was my mistake and you need not be sorry, I am sorry".
Now you will be confused
As to whose mistake it really was,
but it doesn't matter my friend!
Because you both have killed the monsters
Inside, and have learned to value
Love more than ego.

The second one: He will not say sorry, but he will say
"do not be sorry mate, it was not your mistake" and he will put a hand on your shoulder to comfort you.
Believe him and hug him tight.

The third one: He will just say "its ok" and will shake hands with you. You now know he is indifferent and so leave him alone.
You still are not friends but neither foes.

The fourth one: He will probably not respond,
Or will be too cold,
Or may scold you even,
Don't argue, bid him goodbye and leave him with a smile on your face.
So apologies are all done now,
And we still don't know,
If we really had monsters or not,
But you know what my friend,
It doesn't matter,
You know why,
Because even if we had,
We have just killed it.
