Let Us Stop And Listen Poem by Chinwe Robert

Let Us Stop And Listen

Rating: 5.0

Let's stop and listen
To the voices that lies within:
Our reason
That gives us life - our living
That voice we hear
And the one that remain silent
The voice we fear
And the one that makes us defiant.

So stop again and listen
To the wind, the wave
And the season
The silence of the grave
The voice on the walls
The billboards in our head
The lights, cameras, distractions and the dolls
And the voices that take our stead.

So again, please stop and listen
To this, that
And all that is missing
Words made fat
In news unheard
And political promises unsaid
Words to be feared
Words of blood unshed.

Let's stop and listen
To the voice on ice
Voice as loud as the engine's piston
Voice fiery, voice without spice
Voice as in the wildness
Saying: prepare a path, make it straight
For all things is an emptiness
A voice that gives faith.
