Life At Sealife Poem by Chinwe Robert

Life At Sealife

Life at Sea

Calm and still be the waters I sail on
But beneath lies a rumbling sea.
Though the weather be my friend
And my sail is cast to the fair wind
But I know tis but for the moment
For the waters would be rough
The sea, a monstrous thing
The waves swallowing my boat
And I wavering still.
My boat: a tasking mistress
That batters her eyelids not
Nor fall for slumber
But tasks me on.

So, when the horizon is clear ahead
And land I see
The sparrow bids me welcome
For I, am close to land.
The troubling sea is far beyond me
And my fears left at sea
I look forward to friends before me
Their memory that lives in me.

Call me a sailor
Or what'er you will
The sea is home
And home is sea.
My troubles make me better
My fears make me stronger
My storms make me wiser
My life is life at sea.
