Letter To Timothy Poem by Ojeikpo Elijah

Letter To Timothy

Oh Timothy, my dear son and faithful friend
I write to you, to shun fable on the altar
Preach the word, with courage and boldness
Which is a seed of salvation.

Let love and truth be your guiding witness
In season and out, proclaim the good news
Let it be your life's purpose, your only fuse
For the word of God is living and active.

Sharper than any two-edged sword, attractive
Use it to teach, correct and train
That God's people may grow and sustain
In the knowledge of our Lord and Savior.

He is our hope, our strength and our anchor
Do not be swayed by the world's deceit
Stay true to the gospel, always complete
For there will be those who will not endure.

But stand firm, for your reward is sure
Preach the word with patience and love
With humility, pointing to heaven above and alone
For it is not for your own glory or gain.

But for the sake of souls, in Jesus' name
So go forth, dear Timothy, in the power of God
Let His Spirit guide you, as you preach His word
For in doing so, you fulfill your calling.

To be a faithful servant, always listening
May your message be clear, and your heart sincere
May it bring hope and salvation, casting out fear
Preach the word, in every nation and land
For it is through you, God's kingdom will expand.
