Lies - Poem by Jenny Bevan

A warning in the mind
a suspicion in the soul
a doubt in the heart
cold and consuming

A way to find out
a secret to be seen?
a sting of deceit
hot and burning

A wish to be wrong
a need to know why
a trust lost
deep and harming
