Life Poem by Maya Iyer

Life

My life was the size of a little box
My fathers little finger
And my grandmas soft lap
Awed by the wonderful tales
Spun by my mum to keep me enthralled.
The scraping of knees
Tears gathering, swallowing bravely
Then my life grew into a room
Books all around me
A safe haven while my mind
Created and explored
The beauty of words and the resonance of truth
The slipping, the awakening and rising
Till now my life is the span of the world
On tips of my axis whirling around
It's my gorgeous whirlpool of colours
Merging, melting, flowing
Into the pure white light...
