Life Gets Better Slowly. Poem by Ackley AbdulRahman

Life Gets Better Slowly.

Rating: 5.0

Life Gets Better Slowly.
Once, we walked long distance bare footed
Dragging with one hand our clothes loosely fitted.
Once, we had no clean water to drink or to cook
And we trailed the village path to fetch from the brook.

Once, we knew not where our next meal will come from
But we lived cheerfully contended without a frown.
Once, all we saw and hoped for was a better life,
But today, we've gradually started living the good life.

Once we were entertained with riddles and jokes
And the once upon a time tales our fathers spoke.
Once we played on sand heap under the sun
And showered in the rain having great fun.

Today, things are not the same anymore,
We've grown to living the good life worked for.
We now wear shoes and drive cars neatly dressed
With clean water in our fridges carefully placed.

Now, we can afford to eat what ever we want
And get our desires, wish and request granted.
We go to shows and movies to be entertained.
And can have cool showers without rain.

Life goes on, and it gets better along the way,
Each and everyday, getting better and better we pray.
Today, we may not be where we've always intended,
But we are grateful thus far, and are contended.
