Life Has So Many Small Pleasures Poem by Shalom Freedman

Life Has So Many Small Pleasures

LIFE HAS SO MANY PLEASURES

It is a strange joy that has overtaken me
There are so many pleasures in life
So many good things
I was listening to Shlomo Carlebach today
His holy music moves me so much
I just read an essay by Joseph Epstein
About the stages of life
He is the best
Against the winter cold a hot barley soup
However mundane and random this small list
It points to countless other pleasures
Most of which I do not know
But which others have
Life has so many pleasures
Now today just enjoying so much
I wonder why it has taken me so many years
To love life so much
So simply and unambiguously.
