Life In The Morning/Smiles At The Rest Of The Day Poem by Shalom Freedman

Life In The Morning/Smiles At The Rest Of The Day

Life in the morning
Smiles at the rest of the day
But the rest of the day
Will turn cold and chill
And in the evening
The darkness will make life seem
One long terrifying disappointment-

Oh for the morning and the morning and the morning
For youth and love and carefree happiness
And not this old age
Which sinks against the sun
Like a lifeless grave even its wall has forgotten
