Back in the old days in England
A place very popular was the pub
Ale was served at local taverns
Right in the midst of the hub
They drank a lot back in those days
Sometimes till they got wildly drunk
Staggering around the tavern
Landing on the floor with a plunk
But that could be a bad thing, my friend
Because sometimes they were found
So still it was thought they had died
And were buried directly in the ground
Poetry back then was used to tell
All about the family history
They would tell stories in rhyme
To unravel ancestral mysteries
It’s lots of fun, don’t you think
To learn about history in stages?
And to go way back in time to
Life in the middle ages!
