Life On Depression - Poem by Kristen Palmitier

When we are depressed we all feel the same but we react to our depression different. Some use drugs while others use food. Can we run from it NO! Can we think of other ways to deal with it all YES!
Use Imaganation... Don't run away scared don't use addictions to help you self, because in the end you will still be hurting in the inside. Do what I do. Be creative and be thoughtful. Most important of all Be SMART ABOUT IT... Then there is learning from it all....

Great poem! I like the notion of using 'imagination' to deal with depression. You are right, Kristen, in saying that people use all sorts of things outside of themselves to deal with a problem that is really inside of themselves, viz., their own depression. The answer is not alcohol or other drugs or any of a host of destructive behaviors. As Charles Swindoll says, life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it. Keep on writing!
