Lifeless Illusions Poem by Brian Charlton

Lifeless Illusions

In places painted gray, they do mark me a fool

A thing unsurprising, yet lacking in truth

They think me a man, inhibited by fallacy

But what is a soul, if not a dreamer?

To explore and radiate, its own true conceiver

I strike at these lies, and these venemous snakes

Knowing my intentions are aligned with the great

I see a reality beyond what is imagined

And walk a path that my mind cannot fathom

Or perhaps just appeal to the logic of men

Who discard that there is a tool greater than wealth

When I know that there is, so I must encourage myself

So journey I will, knowing the path that I set

Rather attuned to the gray but aware of my steps
