Light As A Feather Poem by Emily Thom

Light As A Feather

Light as a feather, stiff as a board
The astounding faith of exclusion fortifies my resilience to isolation
Laying perfectly still in the mist of fear and calamity,
While those who surround me with black magic lift me effortlessly to unimaginable heights
'Shes looking ill, her time must be near'
'Has her resistance finally left her undying devotion? '
Candles are lit, darkness has prevailed
'Shes getting worse- we do what we must to save the rest'
Watching the pure misery in the tunnel while having shades of light fade away within a mere second
'There is no saving her, for there is no fight in her left'
Soon there is death in the arms of the souls of the auspicious
This repeating chant to determine the possibility of tomorrow
'I can't leave, I need to wake up- put me down please! '
My inner thoughts dissuade my decision to forfeit all that is capable
As I ascend from the floor, with my unyielding rigid corpse,
My never ending anguish disappears
With the momentary happiness of my days that turn to sheer unimportance
Light as a feather, stiff as a board
I am free
