Light Never Gone Poem by Wynand Johannes Louw

Light Never Gone

Where are you now?
After all you’ve done
and all we still needed to do,
you are Gone now,
and I wish it wasn’t true.

I barely even knew you,
and now that I’ll never get
that chance to…I really need it!
I don’t believe I’m saying this
but I really miss you.
Even if it’s just your
big hugs at Christmas
or the coffee and breakfast
in times gone by when I
was still innocent and didn’t
know the truth of times further back.

But the truth is relative and time bound,
and although we now stand here,
our separate ways Gone,
I can’t help think that you
had your legitimate reasons for
doing what you did.

Many people told you of,
things untrue, and it forced
upon you choices that one
must never have to make… But
these thoughts only make me naïve,
and it neither brings you back to me (HOME!)
nor does it make the longings
for one more embrace any less.
Times have moved on, and
I, as still living yet, must move with them.
Move to times yet ahead
and places still unseen
as I step into a world where
your footsteps and of those
that came after you fill the
cobblestones of every walk of live.

I need direction, I need the truth!
I need counsel and console…
But mostly I just need you!

And even though I don’t
want to admit this to myself,
you are in my heart and soul,
and you’ll be with me forever.
Show me your glimmering light;
guide me on my uncertain way.
But mostly…love me.
Love like I loved you,
like I love you still, now
that you are Gone.
