Like A Giant Poem by Terence George Craddock (Spectral Images and Images Of Light)

Like A Giant

Rating: 5.0

Sometimes when I write.
I feel awakening.
First slight tremors
precipitating wakefulness.
Minds eye opens partially.
Begins to see dimly.
Affixing orientation.

Yet time takes away.
Eroding as hunger waves
eating absorbing exposed
threatened coastline.
It encroaches sucks
sustenance embodying being.
Frenzied eating out tormented
fertile land. Time has no space
open vacant for self inspection.
All is full stretching out
unbroken as unyielding
as grey empty sea.

Minds eye opens partially.
Begins to see dimly.
Affixing orientation.
At best a meditational testing
of disembodied atmosphere
with faint feeble stirrings.
Before cast blinking back
into caverns catacombs forged
in forgetful memoryless sleep.

Memoirs memorant
seeding symbolic stories
told from ascendant antiquity
presently sprung to mind.
Mention ascribing
earlier fact embedded myth
recorded cross-over
in age influencing
Hellenic mystic Greece.

Elysium. Sponge expunge.
Cleanse erase obliterate.
Bathing in Elysian Fields
floods brain cells out.
Styx river washing out
weaned melted memories.

Sometimes when I write.
I feel first breaths
precipitating awakening.
Like a sleeping giant
I stir slightly.
Stretch forth my finger.
Yet no time place is found
held within this world age
for me. Belong dwell linger.

There is no place
for realization,
fulfillment, to release
enraptured being.
Life is fretted in employed
sleep drugged shadows.
Remains no time allowing
artistry, youth
spent swiftly lost.

Played out broken
beached vessel.
Yet know now if woke
world would rock.
Beneath neath
quaking concussions
echoing mine resonating feet.

Feel seeping
consciousness within.
Life my life
is but a breath.

Only first breath. Nothing more.
Past giants have gone
lost in mists depths
echoing forth from antiquity.

Giants of unknown undreamt
Mind, still unborn,
with will defining dawn.
Shall rise with genius etching light.
In future age when man walks tall
to heights yet unattained.
