Like A Smile That May........... Poem by Minnie Gehrig

Like A Smile That May...........

I sit stoic,
silent
broody,
as melancholy as the cold wind,
though i do not feel i am falling,
yet rising,
like branches stripped of there glory
naked and before the world,
so all may see there nobbiness,
all the perfect imperfections
as they to, see mine,

the snow will not fall
but instead spits,
off and on again,
like a venomous snake,
unnaturaly milked,

the world will not make up its mind today,
it doesnt turn,
yet seemingly sways,
back and forth again,

long strokes of the keys,
they sound to loud in this solitude,
they reverbrate into hammers,
bloody and bludgened thoughts,

he told me to cast aside the blueness,
what color shall I be then,
what pleases you sir?

it is the end of a chapter,
a season a force,
i am only mourning
as is proper
a thing that is changing,

look even now i see
a bird upon the bough,
a single ray of sun pushes against the clouds,
like a smile that may lay upon my lips,
for the first time in days......................
