Like Knights On A Quest From Far Away

If you'll smile I'll believe there are
Angels in Puerto Rico
And not only cheap rum,
And we'll find some way to evacuate the
Airplane together,
As our plans become dissolved
Like virgins in acid—
Even if the rainbow disappears and
The better poets disappear into
The civil wars of Spain,
And you have no more time for me
Right now—
All what isn't eaten becomes pretty decoration
For you on Christmas,
While my wife sings in the shower,
And our child who is a little boy we'll name after
My father grows and grows
In the oriental orchards of her belly—
And somewhere the sun will rise along the
Contours of the highway, and the little
Runaways will feel like knights,
Will feel like knights on a quest from far away.
