Lingering Poem by susette varga

Lingering

Rating: 5.0

You leave
But you do not go
You want to stay
But yet you choose
To abandon me
Half heartedly
You walk away
Yet you look back
Lingering
Longingly
Silently pleading
That I cry out
Plead for you to stay
With heart and soul
I wish to conform
Be part of the game
You play
Insecurity so very deep
Emotional blackmail
And control
Is the only way
You know
To prove your worth
Keep me near
Making me vulnerable
As you try
To conquer
Your own fears
Sadly
your self doubt
and disbelief in me
Have ground me down
Worn me out
Although I yearn
For you to stay
Your self doubt
Mistrust in me
Leads me to see
I'm not the one
To set you free
Of your distrust
Your love of thee
As you turn to walk away
My heart cries out
That you look back
That you see
I'm silently pleading
That you stay
