Lingering Shadows Poem by Joseph T. Renaldi

Lingering Shadows

Rating: 5.0

The lingering shadows cast over the land
Indicate that Summer is on the wane.
They seem to shelter the garden from the sun
And gradually pass over the lane.

They appear to have a supernatural power,
And hover around an area in a strange way.
Their forms are often distinct and elongated,
And at times they leave without delay.

They develop into an unusal shape,
They stagger nonchalantly to and fro.
They execute like a military detachment
In close order, and away they go.

They make a harmonious adaptation,
To observe them is astonishing and fun.
They are lurking but for a few moments,
Then gone with the fading rays of the sun.
