Liquid Courage Poem by alex haywood

Liquid Courage

In a translucent moment
I saw beyond your reasoning
the stinging string of words
stuck in the walls of my mind
hanging in the air
mind tied in knots
contemplating the options
the gasp involuntary
like a fish out of water
gasping at the shock of air
an intake of pain
then an expulsion,
trying to reject the poison
your reasoning insidious, anesthetic
numbing the agony
the venom spread
killed something,
everything
slowly
liquid courage no match
for female vile

Blimey, Alex, this is a bit misogynistic. We're not all like that, you know! But the poem was good, very good. Love, Fran xx
