Liquid Dream Poem by Sven Rhoads

Liquid Dream

Beneath the waves of my subconscious
All is black yet I find myself floating
I hear a million things in the nothingness
At the mercy of it all, excited by the unknowing
Underwater yet I am breathing fine
As if to be in space with nothing but the chill on my skin
My heart is racing in this state of mind
I feel you drawing closer until I swear you're here within

Every thought becomes the current of the ocean
Pulling me further by the undertow
I remain so silent as my soul continues to scream
The pitch black void of the liquid dream

Shifting colors of the neon light
Captivating, intoxicating sight
As I go limp and flow with the current
Closing my eyes just for a moment
Awakened into a state of shock
Time has ceased in the vast abyss
Surrendered to the nightshade stream
I am drifting away further into the dream

Within my bed surrounded by the walls
The disbelieve that has come over me
Dawning light paints the familiar room
Departed is the great obscurity

Cleansed in the floating darkness
Healed by the shifting neon lights
