Little Gesture Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Little Gesture

Rating: 5.0

The servant got graciously ill
About recovery side, I was hopeful still
We went to his hut side and enquired
'I shall recover and get back soon' he said

I was moved at his desire in mind
He was trusted and very kind
I used to address him as 'Bhabha'(father's elder'}
He was so grateful aha!

My eyes turned wet
As he had been detected with cancer very late
It was in growing in stomach
He was hungry and had too much to ache

I could see no more
As he was staunch supporter
Without his help, I could not remained farmer
He was like real father

I took out purse to give something
Counted some money to give in offering
His eyes got little wide with brightness
I could see some happiness

This was very little gesture
But I could make out for sure
The death fear was really apparent
I could see the helplessness at present
