Living For Today Poem by Ray Hansell

Living For Today

I don't look past today
Because, tomorrow is not mine
That's why I just live life
One day at a time

I never plan too far ahead
Or look too far down the road
That's too far into the future
It's still something I can't hold

It's the present time I look at
Because, that's where I am right now
If I look too far ahead
I know I will be let down somehow

Plans made far in advance
Have a way of going wrong
Just when I think it might be safe
Life plays me it's sad song

So, I always try to stay focused
On what's in front of me
Because looking too far in the future
Is just something I can't see

Some may think me crazy
But, until you've walked in my shoes
You have no idea what I've been through
So please, don't criticize or accuse

Don't say that I'm short sighted
Just living for today
Because who knows tomorrow
It could all be taken away
