Locked In On An Autumn Day Poem by Phil Soar

Locked In On An Autumn Day

Behind closed doors I watch the rain
Trickle down a window pain
Grey skies passing over head
Seen as I lie in my bed
Watching leaves upon the breeze
Float below their washed out trees
Amber gold and glorious red
I watch them fall from my warm bed

And yet, whilst warm, I'd like to be
Sitting underneath that tree
For today might be all shades of grey
As I watch the leaves go on their way
But surely the place to cheer my day
Is only a stones throw away?
So maybe I will leave my bed
And spend my time outside instead
