Loner Poem by Edwina Reizer

Loner

I walk a long and winding road
and never look back to see
where it is I came from.
It doesn't matter to me.

I've always focused on what's up ahead
and seek life out anew.
I encounter whatever is in front of me
and what's come into view.

I've rid myself of fear of the unknown
and put my faith in God.
I pray in an unritualized fashion
so people find me odd.

That also doesn't bother me
for I have learned with age
that acceptance into the silent herd
to me would just be a cage.
