Long Summer Days Poem by Nicole GravellPellerino

Long Summer Days

The golden sun
rises against
the morning horizon,
glistening like glass
across the ocean waves
as the violently crash
upon the sandy shore

the cool breeze
gently blows
through my chestnut hair
as the humid summer sun
beats down
burning
my sensitive ivory skin

The rough and warm sand
along the endless miles of beach
mildly exfoliates
the calloused soles of my feet
as the cool ocean waters
soothe and relax
my severely overheated body

Birds soaring through
the marshmallow like clouds
and across the azure sky
noisily squawking
as they fly over head
showing off
their impressive wing span

The laughter and giggle
of my daughter's voice
echoes near by
my husband's strong arms
and loving and tender hands
hold me tight and safe
as well lay on an oversized beach towel

Loving long summer days
at the ocean side beach
relaxing my worries and cares away
while spending
some much needed and deserved time
with my two favorite people
the love of my life and beautiful baby girl
