Longest Night Poem by Patti Masterman

Longest Night

On that longest night you held my hand
And gave your shoulder, to cry on
As the briefest love of my life never got born:

Caring costs nothing; but reaches to depth's inside us
Never plumbed for fathoms, and stills the mourning.
