Lonliness and I are the best of friends,
It’s the only relation I have that never ends.
When every one bolts out of the door,
I can rely on him to lift me from the floor.
When no one can think of wanting me around,
I can trust him with myself to be found.
Our friendship wasn’t instant or spontaneous,
Ours is a bond that slowly grows.
When I need comfort I always know,
I can find my warmth in his soft glow.
And when I’m livid, to say the least,
He knows how to tame the ruthless beast.
And when I am down or feel forlorn,
He wraps me in his arms so I feel at home.
Ages after we have come to know each other,
And all the times we have stuck it out together.
I know that whenever I have no one and nowhere to turn to,
He’ll always give me a fresh start to begin anew.
