i hope i will see him again
this man who spoke of life
and his dreams to return to school
he said he was proud

i had lied
i am not in college
i am still in highschool

he smiled
and chukled softly
'its all righ chile'

because i know what i want
and how i will get there
he wished me luck
this man
who knows
nothing
about me
or i, him

he does not know how my heart was lifted

with low self-esteem
i am hungry for someone
to notice me

we search in this world
for love
for understanding

'everyone is scared of being alone'

cuz sumday we all get our own

a smile so bright
and his teeth
like the North Star on a clear summers night

on this bus stop
