Look Behind Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Look Behind

Rating: 5.0

Look behind and repent
As this chance is heavenly sent
Even dirt can be washed
But this past mistakes always flash

It may not allow you to rest
It can be called crucial test
See to it that mind is relieved from such troubles
Before life is finished like bubbles

Some of the things harass
It doesn’t give you easy pass
You repent whole heartedly
But they may trouble you repeatedly

Even thought some of the acts may be inadvertently
But those were done knowingly as well as hastily
You were not sore at the cruel repetition
As you thought it was race or competition

You may be blinded with excessive wealth
That might have been helped by very good health
You needed no body’s support for your acts
You were ignorant of reality or basic facts

Some of the lesser intensity issues bother less
They don’t trouble when really invade or surface
But treachery in dealing with friends trouble you a lot
As so much wrangle was created and unnecessarily fought

Same is dealing with parents and relatives
You were cruel and subjective
You had dealt as if they were enemy
The situation used to stand there always stormy

Now when you are helpless and in need
You can finally look back and read
Many of your colleagues might have been dead
But many of their plight voices can be heard

It is hard time to convince the soul
As it is now final departure call
You got to prepare with peace of mind
At least you show it as you are live and not blind

Same is dealing with parents and relatives You were cruel and subjective You had dealt as if they were enemy The situation used to stand there always stormy These lines are of great significance. Only a very few realize their earlier cruelty and repent for it. Avidya, as the Vedantins call, is the cause of our ego and self - centredness. This guilt can be overcome by helping the the relations who need it or to the unfortunate ones. There is no othe way of overcoming this agony.
