Look Me In The Face Poem by Lindsay King

Look Me In The Face

Rating: 3.0

This is so sad
You’re making a mockery of me
This is unfair
I hate that this has become trendy
You change like the weather
I’m undone

Your dyed orange hair
New favorite color
Pierce what hasn’t been done before
Tattoo a star on your back
Avril’s got you craving more
Emulate what you see
Being preppy has sunk
Talk about being overrated
Now you’re just a sell out punk

I remember
You ridiculed me for being lame
You hated my
Unnatural colored hair
I was you before it was cool
Why don’t you look me in the face?

You can’t live without AFI
Keyword bands
Sing about depression and sorrow
Act like it’s cool to cry
What MTV says, you will follow
With the utmost dependency
This is what I’ve been all along
Why’d you say that I was a freak?
‘Cause now you’re singing my song
