Looking Inside Poem by Maggie Wolf

Looking Inside

when i look into myself, what do i see?
do i find a gleaming wall of mystery?
will what i see stike a spark of gladness,
or will i be faced with a never ending sadness?
i hope that i should find a ray of light
just as those stars that shine so bright
not should i hope to find a mist of gloom
wavering on the edge of doom
that i should have a little faith in me,
i should stand strong as the tallest tree
with a flicker of light that makes me unique
all i find i should hope to keep
that when i come to my final end,
there will not be in my path a bend
but i should pass away in glory
if i am blessed, this will be my story
